Look Whooo's One!

Long time, no read, I know! Maybe one day G-burg will get some high speed internet! We had a great summer, but it went by too fast. Niley also turned into a "big girl" this summer. We enjoyed traveling to the beach with Granna one weekend and then back to the beach with the baseball boys.
And since my last post Niley has turned 1!
I can not believe our little tiny baby is 1! We had sooo much fun planning and enjoying Niley's first birthday. I tried to actually calm down and enjoy the party. Usually when I plan or help with parties I am crazy thru the actual party and I don't usually get to enjoy it. I'm usually stressed and nervous making sure everything is "just right"... which is the way I was for my Mom's big birthday party the weekend before Niley's. I know this about my personality and I do not enjoy it, so Yancey gave me some good advice...Just take a deep breath..!
I am so thankful to have such a supportive and helpful family that helped make Niley's party all fit together. They helped cook, pick up food, decorate, move tables, bake cupcakes, babysit, etc and I appreciated it sooo much!
And as my dad said...We flew Niley's cake baker in from Cleveland, Ohio!... Which happened to be my sis-n-law :)She helped me decorate the owl cookie party favors, cupcakes and then she did Niley's smash cake which I thought turned out perfectly adorable! Thanks to all of you for your help!
Jasmine and Karis all the way from Ohio!
We kept with the owl theme for Niley's first bday party. It seemed to work out well because we were able to have the party in front of our house under the shade trees. The heat, thankfully, that morning was suprisingly tolerable.
We had colored bubbles everywhere, that I didn't realized popped a colored dot on clothes..oops.. and thanks to Kylie we had a little face painting...
and some kids enjoyed swinging...
Niley already had a sweet tooth, thanks to Uncle Brad, Bro. Vic and Uncle Dave so she LOVED her cake!
The hit of the party was of course, Yancey's idea with no stress and not much preparation required...A snow cone machine. The kids and Niley loved it! but probably not as much as Yancey did ! My dad had made this wagon a few years back and my mom threw away this umbrella and together what a perfect wagon for snowcones!
I wanted to do owl cookies as favors so we used a tulip cookie cutter and Ms Rhonda's yummy icing recipe to make them. I put pretzels in the bottom of the bag to make the owl look like it was sitting on a tree. I had fun decorating these cookies. I wanted all the "owls" at the party to have blue eyes and a bow, just like the birthday girl :)
Yancey and I wanted to do something to give back this year for Niley's birthday. We have been so blessed in Niley's first year. We couldn't decide exactly what we wanted to do and I wanted it to be "personal" and relate to Niley...so after hours of searching on the web for ideas we found one..In lieu of a gift for the birthday we asked guests to bring a "headband bows" for donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As all of you know Niley doesn't have much hair and ALWAYS has a "headband bow" on so I loved this idea. We were so blessed to have received 71 bows!!
And a few pics from the day...

Happy First Birthday Niley!

Busy Busy Family

Ok, wow, we have been a busy family lately! I know I still need to do my 9 month photo and info update, and mother's day and baby dedication... but I haven't uploaded my pics to the computer yet. I have plans to start doing much better with uploading and printing pictures, instead of having 5 memory cards with 600 pics on them!!

And a rare photo opportunity of two of the greatest blessings of my life :)

Niley had her first cold about 2 weeks ago, she was a tropper though, and we just rode it out with benadryl and motrin. I am thankful for her being so healthy so far! It took her about 10 days to get rid of it, but as of the last 3 days...no more runny nose! Which I know Niley is thankful for because she DOES NOT like for her nose to be wiped!

The North Carolina Wilsons have been here the last week and, as always, we have enjoyed visiting with them. Niley loves people and attention so she has loved all the extra attention and fun that she has had with them! The reason for their visit was that Cory was graduating from Reform Theological Seminary with his Ph.D, COngrats DR. CORY!! So...now that puts both of my brothers as DRs ?! So I've been told I better get busy to keep up with them, but I'm afraid they may just win out on this one!

And Mam Maw and I hit up the Kelly's Kids outlet for some matching deals for the girls. Karis was so excited to be twins with Niley at church :)

And in the mist of my crazy busy week one of my besties had a sweet baby girl and I was able to make a flying trip to Meridian to get some sweet snuggles. I am so happy for this sweet family and their new addition! And, I remember friends coming to visit us in the hospital and saying "I don't remember mine being this tiny" and I thought at that moment "How could you forget this?"...Well when I went and saw sweet Hannah Brooke, I thought "I don't remember Niley being this tiny!".

And have I mentioned that Niley is crawling everywhere and trying to pull up on everything! She has figured out how to move and she loves to go! We kept her in church Sunday night and let's just say that's probably the last time for that for awhile, ha! She's a busy busy girl!

Random Friday

Ok I just had to post the following picture of one of my besties...

3 years ago Jennifer and I decided, hey, let's do a 5K! Ok really? We can't do that...anyway we did and we were so proud of ourselves that first time. Well last Saturday Jennifer won the 5K at Heritage Days for her group! I was so proud of her! I "completed" the 5K but I did a jog/walk interval. I had been trying to make time for runs to prepare for it, but I just haven't been able to consistently add it to my schedule. And as an update for my random blog 12 weeks ago...I'm such a failure in this aspect of my life, anyway not to make excuses, but to make them...We moved and that took all of my extra time for about a month and that was at the start of my workouts, and we moved farther from the gym so the early morning thing was not an option, then I just got unmotivated so anyhoo, it was worth a shot, but now I just confessed it all to y'all for let's see about 4 lbs. Anyway, that's 4lbs I don't have to loose. I've been able to a few late evenings runs but it's just hard to make it happen. Anyway I'm still going to try!

We had a busy outside last weekend with a family reunion crawfish boil and a birthday party for Audrey Jane! Niley is hot natured but she was a trooper and had fun smiling and waving at everyone.

And this picture just makes me laugh and smile all in one... THis is the Effie Belle family

I work with the children's choir at church and we did a musical "Down by the Creek Bank" in APril and they did a FANTASTIC job, so we awarded them with a pizza party at Fox's. We got to ride in the new church bus and overall the kids were great, but we sure did miss Brady and Conner!

And Yay for Friday!

Growing Girl

Ok this picture just makes me laugh so I thought I would share it! She is just a posing :) It was taken at Taco Bell the other night. We then went to the Market and Niley LOVED sitting in the buggy like a big girl checking it all out! And then we ran into "Miss Mattie aka Scooter Mouse" and oh how that lady can make anyone light up! If you are from south MS then you know what I mean.

We have been amazed the last few days how quickly Niley is growing and developing into a little girl! Her personality is definitely starting to form. She loves to be the center of attention and to know what is going on and for everyone to talk to her!! She has also started imitating any motion or sound that she sees. It is so fun to watch her little brain soak it all up like a sponge. She is really not interested in the whole crawling thing. She would much rather just roll, scoot and "swim" where she wants to go. She contanstly wants you to hold her up to stand and dance. She LOVES her books about animals and gets grumpy when you put the books away. I am so excited to count down the days until summer!

8 months of blessings!

It is definitely harder to catch the pictures with the "month" sign without a little monkey eating the paper! HA She has definitely become a little busy body! I am constantly amazed at how quickly she grows and how much she learns in a short period of time.
8 months old!! -I weigh about 18lbs( that was on the Co-op) scale with a diaper -wearing size 3 diapers, probably need size 4 at night -wearing some 6 month, some 9 and some 12 month clothes -I love to hear music and when I hear it, or the word "dance", I do a little shoulder shake and twist -I have 2 bottom teeth -I don't crawl yet, but I can sure "swim" across a room -I love to stand up with someone's help and I am trying to figure out how to do it on my own -I LOVE banana and sweet potato puffs and LOVE food -I still am a great sleeper!! -I love to do "patty-cake" and clap my hands
Aunt Jaz sent us some CUTE CUTE CUTE headbands, this is one of them! We love them, of course!

Easter...The greatest Blessing of all!

So I am running a little bit behind on my posts...imagine that, ha. We had a wonderful first Easter celebration with Niley. My prayer is that she too learns to know and love Jesus and will celebrate His rising with us. Jesus did die on the cross for our sins and He rose again and He is coming again soon for His children!

I am so blessed with special friends and family. Over the holiday season I was reminded of this blessing. Some friends I shopped with, some I ate with, some I cried with, some I chatted with, but most I laughed with. The people that God has blessed me to share in this journey of life with makes me smile and I am soo thankful for this blessing! We were surrounded by family also on Easter Sunday. The church was packed and I was so thankful to see all the people out there that had/has a positive influence on my life and I see Niley receiving these same blessings from aunts, uncles, granna, mams and paps, cousins, friends, church leaders, etc and this fills my heart with joy. It also reminds me to continue to strive daily to follow Him and be different from "the world" so that others will want the joy that I have, which is only through JESUS CHRIST!

Thanks also for the wonderful memories made at Aunt B's with baseball, "dizzy mummy", and all the other fun ideas that she had. These are memories that will last a lifetime! I encourage you also to make time to laugh and play silly games with your family of all ages. We had ages 8 months to 66 years old laughing!

There will be 8 month pics and details soon to come, but wow Niley is growing!

Gratitude

Gratitude...As I was reading the Sunday School lesson this past week on gratitude, I was reminded of how I should praise God by giving thanks to him for all of the blessings that I have received. For most of us, especially those of us in the south, polite manners are a must for us and our children. At a very young age we are taught to say please and thank you. I have noticed that I have already begun to say it to Niley even at 7 months old.
As I reflected on this yesterday it made me wonder how much I say "thank you" to God?! As Christians we are often good at the "Please" part...Please God heal the sick, please God help me get through this situation, please God bless my family...but are we good at the "thank-you" part? I sat back and thought of all the things to say "thank you" to God for and the list is endless!! So I have challenged myself and I challenge you, also, to say thank you to God for all of the blessings that we have received!

We took Niley for a little baseball action on Saturday. She seemed to enjoy herself and she was great! Niley and Sophie Reid got to have a little pallet playtime during the games. It is so fun to watch them grow. We also had a fun time yesterday at Madeline's 2nd barnyard birthday! Niley loves to be around people and she loves children! And she sure does love Brady...and I think the feeling is beginning to be mutual ;)

Thank you God for the blessing of children and family!

7 months old and Spring Break!

I'm 7 months old!
I don't know what my weight is now, but I have definitely fattened up because I LOVE my baby food!
I can sit up like a big girl and I am learning how to scoot, I'm almost ready to crawl.
I now have a tooth on the bottom and I am about to get another one, probably this week.
I am wearing 6-9 month clothes and my feet have finally grown a little to size 1!
I am still a great sleeper and I take a morning nap and afternoon nap.
I can say "bye-bye" and mean it with my wave. I have also begun to clap and I think things are funny. I enjoy saying "da da da" when I am playing and "ma ma ma" when I want something.
I absolutely LOVE music and I try to sing along :)

I enjoyed my week of Spring Break with Niley. She is getting to be a big girl and she continues to amaze me with her daily developments. We enjoyed a day at the zoo one day with cousins but it began to rain so our trip was cut short. We took pictures with Maureen Wilson and Maddie and that was fun and of course afterwards we just HAD to go shopping to get some new sandals and church shoes. Niley was also able to spend a few days with her Granna in Meadville and I think they had a good time. We spent last Saturday afternoon at the river with friends and family and I look forward to the days ahead of fun in the sand and sun!

Niley was a trooper at the zoo, even in the drizzling rain...
