Spring Blessings

Spring time is always a reminder of growth. Things are beginning to bloom, the temperature is warming up and every thing just begins to look a little brighter. You can see God's work all around, and isn't He a great artist?! I feel our spiritual life often ends a "Spring". A time to grow and bloom and look a little brighter to the world. This is a challenge for all of us to add some "spring" to our lives.

Speaking of growth...WOW, has Niley grown?

Where has the time gone? I feel like I don't have a baby anymore but a little girl. This makes me happy and sad all at once. As mothers, we pray for growth and development and we can't wait until the next stage, but then, do we really want that next stage to happen so soon? I have many friends who became mothers before me and they have offered many words of wisdom and suggestions. These conversations are often very different as to what worked for each of them, but one common remark is..."enjoy the moments, because they grow up too fast". And now I am living this. I feel like just yesterday I was waking up every 3 hours to feed a little baby that everyone said "she's so tiny" to, and now I am waking up a little girl after 10 hours of sleep as she says "no, no, no" and hides under her blanket wanting to go back to sleep! So I am going to try to stop and "smell the spring flowers" and enjoy these precious moments that God has blessed my family so much with.

and during this Easter season let's reflect on ourselves and use it as a time for blooming and growth!

Birthdays, Birdhouses and Boys...

Have I ever told you that I love birthdays?! I think birthdays are super special days no matter the age! And as you can see from my previous post I like to celebrate birthdays! When Yancey and I first started dating he said " You Wilsons celebrate a birthday every month" and we've added 3 to the family tree since then. Now birthdays have a whole new added fun factor...Niley! What little child doesn't love a bday party? So on Saturday Niley and I attended Hudson's 2nd birthday party. His mom Joly, a friend that I met thru Yancey, planned a fun party at Michael's Craft Store. I did not even know they did parties, but they do! And it was fun! Niley and all the kiddos got to paint a birdhouse. The paint, brushes, aprons and water were all out and ready for the kids when we arrived. It was fun to watch all the kids of different ages enjoy expressing their style on a birdhouse. And of course you get to take the birdhouse home with you! What a fun idea!

Can you tell by her smile that she loves ice cream and cake?!
Here is a pic of Niley and the birthday boy. They were so sweet talking (in their own language) to each other and I wanted to grab a cute photo of them! Don't tell her Daddy she was holding his hand!

Niley got to spend Sunday afternoon with the boys...PapPaw, Uncle Brad, Brady and Conner. They went to see some exotic animals and enjoy a beautiful afternoon outside. Niley absolutely adores Brady and Conner! And don't tell them that I know the feeling is mutual! And did I mention that they are GREAT babysitters?! Even as I loaded Niley in the truck to leave with PapPaw I said "Are you sure you're ok taking her?"...his response, "Yes, Brady is going!"

Fall 2012 updates..

Niley officially became a "walker" at the end of September! She was a little bit wobbly at first but she definitely has the hang of it now! And she has gotten to be a quick mover, keeping me on my toes! This picture is one of her first "action shots"...

I am now in the "30" club, it was kinda of nice to be one of the last ones to join this club. This is one of the perks to be the youngest of most of your friends :) Age has never really been a factor to me but when I think that 40 is only ten years away??!! Really? That seems weird! But hey, I have some really awesome beautiful 40 year old friends..(Yes, you know who I am talking about, that was your "shoutout"!) Yancey planned an awesome birthday weekend for me and I had a blast with some many special friends and family!

We enjoyed a fun night at Fat Mama's...

Yancey and I met in Hattiesburg and my heart is always full of joy when I am there. We met up with my best friends from grad school and their kiddos at my favoirte resturant...Cresent City...yum yum. It was sooo different for us to all be together with our sweet girls, my oh my how much has changed in 6 six years...

Thanks to all for a fabulous bday weekend!
We have also spent several nights at football games and thanks to Niley's best buds, Brady and Conner, she is a sports fan! She enjoyed cheering for her boys and especially clapping with the cheerleaders! (And now she cheers for any football game we are watching TV) I can not believe how time flies and that my nephews have turned out to be such handsome sweet athletes and did I mention talented?! They both won State Champs for football, who knew they even had State Champs in 5th grade?!

I'm BAAACCCKK!

Due to limited internet access and computer difficulties uploading pictures...I became frustrated and did not keep up with my blog! But here is hopes that I can get back on track!! I will be doing a few posts as an update of the last 6 months but for now here are some fabulous pics that Maureen Wilson with Maureen Wilson Photography ( www.maureenwilsonphotography.com ) captured in November. You can see Niley is now full of personality! AND SHE IS SO FUN!!

Thanks Maureen Wilson for the fabulous pics! www.maureenwilsonphotography.com

Look Whooo's One!

Long time, no read, I know! Maybe one day G-burg will get some high speed internet! We had a great summer, but it went by too fast. Niley also turned into a "big girl" this summer. We enjoyed traveling to the beach with Granna one weekend and then back to the beach with the baseball boys.
And since my last post Niley has turned 1!
I can not believe our little tiny baby is 1! We had sooo much fun planning and enjoying Niley's first birthday. I tried to actually calm down and enjoy the party. Usually when I plan or help with parties I am crazy thru the actual party and I don't usually get to enjoy it. I'm usually stressed and nervous making sure everything is "just right"... which is the way I was for my Mom's big birthday party the weekend before Niley's. I know this about my personality and I do not enjoy it, so Yancey gave me some good advice...Just take a deep breath..!
I am so thankful to have such a supportive and helpful family that helped make Niley's party all fit together. They helped cook, pick up food, decorate, move tables, bake cupcakes, babysit, etc and I appreciated it sooo much!
And as my dad said...We flew Niley's cake baker in from Cleveland, Ohio!... Which happened to be my sis-n-law :)She helped me decorate the owl cookie party favors, cupcakes and then she did Niley's smash cake which I thought turned out perfectly adorable! Thanks to all of you for your help!
Jasmine and Karis all the way from Ohio!
We kept with the owl theme for Niley's first bday party. It seemed to work out well because we were able to have the party in front of our house under the shade trees. The heat, thankfully, that morning was suprisingly tolerable.
We had colored bubbles everywhere, that I didn't realized popped a colored dot on clothes..oops.. and thanks to Kylie we had a little face painting...
and some kids enjoyed swinging...
Niley already had a sweet tooth, thanks to Uncle Brad, Bro. Vic and Uncle Dave so she LOVED her cake!
The hit of the party was of course, Yancey's idea with no stress and not much preparation required...A snow cone machine. The kids and Niley loved it! but probably not as much as Yancey did ! My dad had made this wagon a few years back and my mom threw away this umbrella and together what a perfect wagon for snowcones!
I wanted to do owl cookies as favors so we used a tulip cookie cutter and Ms Rhonda's yummy icing recipe to make them. I put pretzels in the bottom of the bag to make the owl look like it was sitting on a tree. I had fun decorating these cookies. I wanted all the "owls" at the party to have blue eyes and a bow, just like the birthday girl :)
Yancey and I wanted to do something to give back this year for Niley's birthday. We have been so blessed in Niley's first year. We couldn't decide exactly what we wanted to do and I wanted it to be "personal" and relate to Niley...so after hours of searching on the web for ideas we found one..In lieu of a gift for the birthday we asked guests to bring a "headband bows" for donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As all of you know Niley doesn't have much hair and ALWAYS has a "headband bow" on so I loved this idea. We were so blessed to have received 71 bows!!
And a few pics from the day...

Happy First Birthday Niley!
