Blessed with Workout Buddies!

Well it is Day 3 of my challenge and so far so good. You have got to start somewhere so I am at least making small steps towards my goal. On Monday I walked/jogged with Jennifer. I can not tell you how much exercising with a friend motivates me!
I went straight for the "couch to 5K" challenge because I have done this in the past and it really does work. So on Monday I had a 5 min. warm-up walk then I walked 90 seconds, jogged 60 seconds for 20 minutes, followed by a 5 min. cool-down walk. Can I just say " Oh my goodness, I am out of shape"?! During the first few jogs I thought, "oh I've got this, this isn't that bad"...well then the last jogs kicked my butt! I could have never made it without Jen's motivation!
THen on Tuesday morning I was at the fitness center and on the treadmill at 5:45 am, thanks to Mel K. Once again, I would never have done it without a friend. I am blessed to have my workout buddies!! We plan to do the early bird workout two mornings a week and I will do the "couch to 5k" challenge 3 other days of the week.
I've also tried to increase my water intake and decrease the diet cokes.

Now I just have to keep this up for...81 more days!

And to brighten my day....

And this is a pic that I took last week of how Niley has starting sleeping in her car seat.

I still can't believe that I posted this!

Ok, I am stepping completely out of my comfort range for this post, but I'm going to give it a try. I need/want to lose 15 pounds so I'm going to use this blog for the next 12 weeks for accountability and motivation. (but of course pics of Niley will still come)

Some things before I get started....

I've never been a skinny chick and I'm ok with that, I just don't want to be a chubby or fat chick.

I don't drink, smoke, gamble.... I eat, and this too is sinful.

I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight and I am proud of myself for that, but let's be honest I needed to lose these 15 lbs before I ever got preggers.
And even though I am at my pre-pregnancy weight, my mom friends didn't lie when they said that your body will never be the same after a baby.
I'm not complaining about this though, because I am so thankful and blessed to have been able to become pregnant and carry her full term!!

I've always been heavy on the bottom and I had become ok with that, but now I'm feeling the heaviness in the middle and I am NOT OK with this!

I'm still breastfeeding, so all of you who think "the weight falls off if you nurse" are mistaken! I do believe that it helped the first 6 weeks to shrink my uterus, but as far as melting the weight off, I'm not a believer.

I don't believe in diet pills, I think that's cheating.

I enjoy exercising but only with a friend. I have never been successful at self motivation exercise.
About 3 years ago, I attempted my first 5K. When I started, I thought, I can never do this, but with Jennifer we were able to motivate each other. Since then, I have jogged in 3 5Ks and I can't describe to you the feeling I had as I crossed the finish line and I miss that feeling. I walked 30 mins 4 times a week up until the week Niley was born... since then I've walked 4 times in 6 months.
I have got to figure out an exercise program that will work for me and my new life as a mom. I work, so when I get home, all I want to do is snuggle with my munchkin, not leave her again to go jog. So I have decided if I am going to be successful at exercise, it will have to be early in the am when my family is still sleeping. Now, most of you reading this are probably laughing because I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON! But I really want to do this! So my plan is to wake up at 5:30 am 3 mornings a week for a 30 min walk/jog/run and work in an afternoon exercise 2 days a week.

My future goal is to run a half marathon...but let's be realistic and stick to the current goal.

I want to be healthier example for Niley as she grows up.

Current Date: February 6, 2012
Current Weight: 158 (wow, can't believe I put that!) My normal weight has been 150 for about 10 years but the holiday season that I got pregnant, (before I knew that I was) added on the additional 8lbs that won't go away.
Current pant size: 10, but tighter than I want
Target Date: April 30, 2012
Target Weight: 143
Target Size: 6/8 comfortably

Ok, so here it goes... The journey begins, pray for me!

Blessing of Fun Days

I love days off of work that I get to spend with Niley. She likes to go as much as I do so we usually find somewhere to go on our days off. This week we decided to ride with MamMaw and Aunt Sandra to Jackson to see Aunt Noel and Mary Leigh and Easton. As always, we had a great time visiting with all of them. It was fun to see Easton and Niley together, they have now realized that each other exist. THere are so many similarities in the two of them, yet some many differences. Here are a few pictures for our fun day.

Goodbye, 2011! Welcome, 2012!

Whew...the holidays wore me out! I didn't do a very good job of blogging over the holidays but I will try and do better! We had a fantastic Christmas, but we certainly welcomed the new year. The Christmas services at our church were wonderful this year and it made us all slow down and remember the real "reason for the season..Jesus." I very much enjoyed my time off with Niley. I was able to experience her laughter, smiles and cooing everyday and it was PRICELESS! She also started rolling over around Christmas. I can not believe how quickly she is growing...You all did not lie when you told me how quickly chirldren grow up! She enjoyed looking at lights and anything that moved and of course she loved the extra time with all of her cousins! It amazes me how babies love "little people". Niley would just watch their faces and their every movements. Our families had a lot of sickness over the holidays, but I am so thankful for God's blessing of Niley staying healthy thru all of it. Yancey was able to be off several days with us and we spent alot of time with all of our families that we are so blessed to have. We enjoyed seeing extended family in Meadville that we don't get to see often at PapPa Harold's retirement party. My brother Cory and his family (from North Carolina) spent the week after Christmas at my Mom's so we enjoyed this time with them. I think we all tried to do 6 months worth of activities in 6 days. We enjoyed a day at the Children's Museum in Jackson. This is a great place and I recommend it for children of all ages. Even though Niley is so young she seemed to enjoy all of the bright colors and movements. We had not seen the North Caroloina Wilsons since August so the kids were amazed how much Niley had grown. On the night before they left, all of my family (except the 4 youngest kids) played the game "Outburst." That night I laughed more than I have in years and it has become one of my favorite memories with my family. So if you need a fun game night for all ages (our ages ranged from 7-61), I recommend this game. Niley was also able to spend the night with her Granna in Meadville over the holidays and they had a good time together. She kept her on New Year's Eve for Yancey and I to go eat and run some errands...well, just for future info, don't try to do anything in Hammond on New Year's Eve night...most everything was closed, even Sonic and Raising Cane's! I hope you experienced wonderful Christmas blessings and that your year is filled with many Blessings From Above!

December Blessings...

December is such an exciting month for us. Not only are we preparing for the blessing of Christmas but we are also celebrating our anniversary and Yancey's birthday. Last week we took Niley for her first visit with Santa. We decided to do this photo at the Bass Pro Shop ( or let's say Yancey decided, ha). The photo with Santa was great and the people were super nice and you get a pass so you don't have to wait in line, and best of all...It was FREE! The Bass Pro offers lots of activities and games and we saw kids of all ages enjoying these. Brady and Conner went with us and they had a great time. Not only were the photos and games free but they also gave a card for free kids meals at the resturant. So it was good fun, entertainment and photos all for FREE. I recommend a trip to BassPro's Santa's Wonderland!
On 12/13 Yancey and I will be celebrating 3 years! WOO HOO! God has blessed us and our wedding vows. We decided to take a little trip to New Orleans for a night. This was our first night away from lil miss Niley. She was greatly missed but we had a great time. Yancey surprised me and made reservations at the beautiful Roosevelt Hotel. We are members of Hilton Honors and we had enough points for a free night, which is normally $219, so join those hotel reward programs, they really do pay off!! The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and there were little girls everywhere dressed in their pretty little Christmas dresses, so of course I asked what was going on. Well, each year the Roosevelt does a "Teddy Tea with Santa" for little girls to dress up and have a party. I heard from a friend this was loads of fun, so next year if you are looking for a fun girls day check into this. This hotel was also featured this month in Southern Living magazine. New Orleans was very pretty all decorated for Christmas. We did a little shopping at Lakeside mall and a little "looking" at the Shops on Canal. We enjoyed a light lunch at Mulate's, one of my favorite cajun restaurants. We also rode the trolly to the French Market, which doesn't seem near as exciting as when I was a child. We enjoyed charboiled oysters that evening at Drago's and of course, who can leave New Orleans without Cafe du monde beignets?! So it is a good thing we did ALOT of walking in N.O. to keep up with all the eating we did!
Below are some pictures from the past week and our travels.

Only 12 days until Christmas!

Brady and Conner tripped me out on the carousel and yes I made them sit in Santa's lap!

Busy Weekend

We had a busy busy weekend! We went to the Co-Op on Saturday morning to visit Pap Paw and do a little Christmas shopping with MamMaw. The Co-Op has some great Christmas gifts! Then Granna Jo came down and we went to the G-Burg Parade on Saturday. Niley was happy and content to be there until Santa and his fire truck came through...the siren was too loud! But she only cried for a bit until it passed. After the parade we had Yancey a 30th birthday bash at the barn! It was loads of fun, cooking out and visiting around the campfire. The jambalaya and bbq was yum, thanks to PapPaw and Pop and the chocolate cake and smores hit the spot. Of course the highlight of the night was Yancey's bday present....a fainting goat named GOMER! He has always said he wanted one, so careful what you wish for! Niley was worn out from the busy day and went to bed at 7:30p.m. and slept until 7am the next morning (I know I am blessed to have such a good sleeper)! Here a few pictures from the weekend.
